The City Officials led by City Mayor Oscar Moren in the official blessing and turnover of the new 3-storey, 8-classroom building of Bonbon National High School in Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City. It is part of the 450 newly constructed classrooms, as a preparation for the Senior High School. With this new building, the students will experience a more comfortable and conducive place of learning.

Sooner, Agri-Fishery course will be offered in this school as said by DepEd curriculum coordinator Ann Allera.

Andrew Gotianun Foundation, Inc. (AGFI) has pledged a 500 million worth to Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation and Xavier University to put up a Technical-Vocational High School for scholars at the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental. It will then be called Andrew L. Gotianun, Sr. Center for Integrated Technologies, Xavier University, is envisioned to produce graduates who are world-ready, with international standard competencies, and spiritual and social commitment.

AGFI shall finance the construction of the school buildings, workshops, and dormitories, as well as the provision of furniture and other equipment, IT, Tech-Voc machinery and transport vehicles.  The Foundation also commits to partly finance the annual operating costs of the senior high school for the first five years of operations so all its students can attend as full, live-in scholars.  Dedicated to the memory of Filinvest Founder Andrew L. Gotianun, Sr., the school represents his advocacy for education and his commitment to the progress of Mindanao. (FDC)

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte took some time to visit a wounded police officer at Capitol University Medical Center (CUMC) in Cagayan de Oro City after the inauguration of FDC Misamis Corp. Power Plant in Phividec Industrial Estate in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

SP01 Ronald Eugenio who is confined at Room 429 of CUMC and writes his message to the President on the board saying, “Yung droga kasi kawawa ang next generation.”

As the President deciphers the written message, he vowed to help him learn the sign language. He also gave SP01 Eugenio an initial financial assistance of PhP 250,000 and assured to pay his hospital bills amounting to PhP 2.1 million.

SP01 Eugenio was wounded in a gunfire fight during a surveillance operation conducted by the Chief Intelligence Police Non-Commission Officer (PNCO) of the Opol Police Station and intelligence operatives on August 6, 2016.


Yay! Another possible job opportunities! Author Solutions Philippines Inc., a self-publishing firm that has its first hub in Cebu, is open to the possibility of expanding in Southern Philippines, with Cagayan de Oro and Davao as potential sites.

Author Solutions Philippines Inc. associate vice president for operations and general manager Merell Davis G. Rio said the expansion being eyed is backed by the growing demand in self-publishing services, primarily in the US.

At present, Author Solutions has 1,000 workers in Cebu City based in Cebu IT Park. Forty percent of the workforce is comprised of sales representatives, and a significant share of that consists of copy editors and graphic artists.

Rio said Author Solutions is one of the biggest self-publishing companies, with 200,000 authors publishing 250,000 titles.


Congratulations to Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan’s sixty-four (64) new doctors after garnering a 91.43% passing rate in the recent September 2016 Physician Board Exam. The passing rate is good for 10th place among top performing schools in the said exam.


The PRC requires 50 or more examinees with at least 80 passing rate for a school to be declared as top-performing. Jeri Charlotte Albano from University of Santo Tomas (UST) topped the exam with an 89.50-percent passing rate.
